Our Story
Tato’s Opportunity was founded in memory of Lizardo “Tato” Jimenez, the late brother of our founder, Jesus J. Jimenez. Tato succumbed to a lengthy battle with polio in 2003 at the young age of 32. Despite his challenges, Tato remained bright, positive, and intelligent. Mr. Jimenez often wondered what his brother could have accomplished if he’d had more opportunities available to him. This inspired the mission of our foundation to provide disadvantaged students with the opportunities that Tato never had. Our mission includes adopting local schools, awarding educator resource grants, and providing student scholarships. We aim to give students with minimal resources the chance to acquire an education and guide them toward successful futures full of opportunities.
